Little Cookies For Horsey

You will need:

* Some butter or margarine to grease the molds (I use margarine)
* Little non-adhesive muffin moulds
* Real bran or bran muffin mix
* 1 bottle of molasses
* 2 cups of wheat,oat and barley mix,or oatmeal(I use oat meal)

1. Heat up the oven to 350'F.
2. Grease your muffin molds with the butter or the margarine.
3. In a big bowl, mix 2 cups of wheat, oat and barley mix,(or oat- meal) and one cup of real bran or barn muffin mixture.
4. Add some water, a little at a time until the mix isn't to dry.
5. Put 1/4 of the molasses bottle (about 1-2 Tablespoons for me)and mix.
6. Put in the muffin molds.
7. Put in the oven, for about 25-35 minutes, until seems crisp.
8. Take out of the oven, leave to cool down a bit, unmold, and leave them to cool down again until they are completely cold...
They are ready, Now give them to your horse(s)
GOOD APPETITE!!!!! Yummy...Delicous!

Here is a recipe that we use a lot, we like to give them as gifts to our horse friends, and they love these treats, and it makes your house smell good.

*7 CUPS SWEETFEED
*2 12oz JARS DARK MOLASSES
*1/2 CUP OF WATER
*2 1/2 CUPS FLOUR

1. Mix the first 3 ingredients, then add the flour.
2. Coat muffin tins with Vegetable oil.
3. Press the dough down into the tins.
4. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes, or until dark brown.

This recipe should make about 96 cookie treats for your horse. You can add grated carrots for color and flavor, also apples.

3. Sonny's apples:

4 Macintosh apples, and 1/2 cup corn syrup Peel and cut the apples into quarters then pour syrup on them. Your horse will think she died and went to Horsey Heaven.

The average life of a horse is 22-30 years. A pony can live up to 40.

Horses and ponies are measures in hands. A hand is 4". A small pony is around 13hh. A BIG draft horse is sometimes even 19hh.

HH means Hands high.

A draft horse refers to Clydsdales, Belgians, and other horses mostly used for hard farm work.

Horses are usualy fed grain and hay. They need to have fresh water at all times.

Owning a horse is expensive. Very expensive!

The Arabian is the oldest breed.

Only registerd Thoroughbreds can race in the USA. There are seperate Arab and QH tracks.

A QH (quarter horse) got it's name for being the fastest horse running 1/4 of a mile.

The basic riding tack is a saddle, saddle pad and bridle.

Tack also refers to the riders apparel, brushes, halter and lead lines

For schooling, a rider usualy wears pants or shorts (under chaps) and boots and a helmet.

Schooling is NOT a show. Schooling is usualy preparing for a show, or taking lessons.

Chaps are pants made of suede or leather that buckle around the waist, and zip up around the leg.

Standards are the things on the end of the jumps to keep the fence up.

Cups are the metal things that the poles rest in.

Roan is any colored hair with white making it looke multi colored.

Thoroughbreds are used for racing and do just about everything.

A horses racing career almost never, that I've heard of, goes past the age of 8. They start racing at two years old before their bones are fully finished growing, that's why racing such young horses is dangerous.

Three-day Eventing is THE hardest sport (Not putting any other hard sports down) One the first day, you have Dressage. The next day is cross country and then on the last day is stadium jumping.

Dressage is a sport where the horse has to be graceful and is the equine equivalant to dancing. The rider has to make the horse do stuff like turn and leg yield w/o it looking like they are doing anything.

Leg yielding is when a horse crosses it's legs over and moved to the left or right.

Cross Country is jumping, always outside. They are solid fences and usually made out of natural things or at least painted to look like it. Like stone walls, logs, water, ETC.

Stadium jumping is like Jumper. You want a fast and clear round, which is usually hard after Cross Country which is tiring.
